2020 Women in Sport Photo Action Award (WISPAA) Webinar

Wed, 16 Sep 2020
17:00 - 17:45

Women Sport Australia is proud to present a virtual event showcasing its hugely popular 2020 Women in Sport Photo Action Award (WISPAAs) finalist images.

The WISPAAs was inaugurated in 2019 as a photographic competition to generate greater recognition and respect for the skill, strength and athleticism of Australian women actively participating in sport.

This year the WISPAAs have seen further growth from last year's successful first edition. In total there were 372 images submitted by 160 photographers, which is 88 more images and 52 more photographers than last year.

More information about the WISPAAs and this event can be found in this short video

The virtual event will review the top 15 images in each of the amateur and professional categories and examine the impact of the WISPAA competition on raising the profile of women in sport in Australia.

The event will be held online on Wednesday 16 September from 5.00-5.45pm (AEST). It is a free event open to anyone and will be hosted as a live event, with a recording to be made available at a later date.

Multi-award winning journalist and author Sam Lane will moderate the event as MC. Sam was one of the judges of the 2020 WISPAA competition. She will facilitate a panel discussion featuring:

- Getty Sports chief photographer and 2020 WISPAA judge Ryan Pierse;
- 2020 WISPAA professional winner Michael Willson (also the winner of the 2019 WISPAA professional award);
- 2020 WISPAA amateur winner Casey Sims; and
- Deputy Chair of Women Sport Australia, Gen Simmons

A link to join the event will then be sent out in advance of the event.

The 2020 WISPAA competition is proudly supported by prize sponsor Quality Mind Global www.qualitymindglobal.com. This event is supported by ISPT to recognise Australian sportswomen.
